The Kerrville Veterans Hospital offers outstanding Primary Care by:
-
Team approach to reach goals
-
Efficient, timely service
-
Awesome attitude of patient staff
-
Maximizing benefits through education and awareness
Primary care is when one provider
coordinates all your medical care. You will usually see this provider; however, when
needed, you will be referred for special tests or treatment. Reports of this care
are returned to the primary care provider who can then coordinate all your care.
At the Kerrville Division eight Primary Care
Teams have been formed and every patient will be assigned to one of these teams.
Each team consists of a physician, a registered nurse and a clerk. This team will
coordinate all of your care. When you have questions, your team will assist
you. Primary Care is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.,
excluding federal holidays.
On your first visit to this medical center
you will be examined and assigned to a Primary Care Team. Assignments will be made
on a rotating basis. Once assigned, this will be your team when you return for a
primary care appointment.
Although you may initially feel that your
assigned team is not what you want, we ask that you give them a try. If after a few
months you feel a change of teams is necessary, you can request a change from the Division
Manager, Medical Service. You can get a form from your Primary Care clerk.

We operate on scheduled appointments.
Please make sure you know your next appointment date before you leave.
Please report to the clinic 15 minutes before
your scheduled appointment to allow time to park your car and register with the clerk.
Please call your team clerk when you need to
cancel or change appointments. If possible, please reschedule at that time.
Scheduling hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
You are encouraged to keep all scheduled
appointments.
Give your current telephone number and
address to the clerk at each visit. Please bring all your insurance information to
each visit.
If you do not have an appointment, please
call your nurse before you come. This can prevent unnecessary waiting after you
arrive. Sometimes your problem can be taken care of by telephone and you can avoid a

Telephone calls concerning medications and
health related matters are welcomed.
Your call will be taken by trained personnel
who will ask for the name of the person calling, the name of the patient, the last four
numbers of the social security number, symptoms and duration of illness, and a telephone
call back number.
This information will be given to your nurse
and/or primary care provider who will then call you back. Telephone calls will be
returned as soon as possible.
If you have any medical questions or problems
between visits, please call us between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
If your problem or concerns cannot be handled over the telephone, you will be told
one of the following:
-
Call 911 if it is an emergency.
